I anticipate a most successful year working with you and your child. Students must come to school prepared to follow classroom rules and equipped with school supplies. This year I am teaching 4rd-grade. Weekly Homework Reading Logs are given to students on Monday. They must be signed by parents and returned to school daily. You can also find a copy of the Week's Study Plan on this website. Written homework is completed Monday through Thursday. Thursday is study night! Students will study and practice assignments from the week to prepare for assessments on Friday. I expect all students to complete Reading Logs daily, read at least 20-30 minutes, study on Thursday, and pass all assessments with at least 75-100% accuracy.
When at all possible, during academic breaks, make use of educational resources such as The South Fulton Library, Public Broadcasting Stations, Animal Planet, The Science Channel, Fernbank, Zoo Atlanta, The Botanical Gardens, The Atlanta Aquarium, The Children's Museum, The Chattahoochee Nature Center, The Tellus Science Museum, The High Museum of Art, and The IMAX Theater. Access to these and other academic resources serve to reinforce and enhance the learning process.
Be advised that all 3rd-grade students must score 800 or above on the new Georgia EOG tests in order to meet or exceed State Standards for promotion to the 5th grade.
